Searching for a Contribution

The portal offers two methods of searching for a contribution, either you can use the Quick Search (above) which is available on all pages of the portal or you can use the advanced search found on the portal home page.

Typing a word, part of a word or short phrase in the Quick Search field will search the title, abstract, author, date published, contributor organisation and region for your inputted word or phrase. It will just search contributions relating to the portal that you are in.

To narrow your search you can be more specific about what you want to find by using the Advanced Search. You can also search contributions across all portals. The more search fields you use, the narrower your results will be. If you find that your search results in no findings, then you may have been too specific and may need to try searching using less criteria.

Search Results are listed providing you with an overview of the contributions and a link to view the full details for each. A Next and Previous button at the bottom of the results list will enable you to paginate through the results if there are more than 10. You can sort your results by Title, Author, Date Published and Average Star Rating by using the sort links at the top of the page.

Making a Contribution

In order to make a contribution you need to be registered and logged in to the portal. Once you are logged in, please read the Contribution Guidelines for information on what you need to include when making a contribution.

Complete the Contribution form as thoroughly as you can as you will not be able to edit it once it is submitted. The more information you add, the better chances someone has of finding it through the search options.

Participating in the Discussion Forum

You do not need to be logged in to view the discussion forum, but you do need to be registered and logged in to post your own messages and respond to existing threads.

To read a post, just click the title link. This will produce the full message and will provide a follow up form to be completed if you want to respond to that particular message. You should start a new thread only if your message does not relate to an existing thread - in this case, click the Post New Message link. You can choose to show your email address with your message so that people can email you directly or omit it completely.
